Your recordings stay yours

Privacy policy

Last updated 16 September 2026.

Who is responsible

Screen Crisp is published by [[YOUR FULL LEGAL NAME]], a sole proprietor based in [[CITY, STATE]], India. For anything in this policy, including a request to exercise your rights, write to [email protected]. That address is also the grievance contact under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

The short version

The desktop app does not collect your personal data. Your recordings, projects and exported files are written to your PC and are never uploaded to us. Screen Crisp records and edits without an account and without an internet connection. This website is separate: it uses Google Analytics, described below.

What the app stores on your PC

Screen Crisp writes your recordings, project files, editor preferences and exported video to folders on your own computer. We cannot see any of it. Deleting a project or uninstalling the app removes that data according to your own choices in Windows; we hold no copy to delete on your behalf.

What the app sends

Nothing. The app does not transmit your screen contents, audio, webcam video, file names or usage statistics. It has no advertising, no third-party trackers and no background telemetry.

Crash and diagnostic reporting is not part of the app today. If it is added later it will be opt-in: an error will show you what would be sent and nothing will leave your PC unless you press the send button. This policy will be updated before any such feature ships.

Purchases and licensing

Screen Crisp is sold through the Microsoft Store. Microsoft is the seller and handles payment, your licence entitlement and the devices it covers. We never see your card details, billing address or Microsoft account credentials. Microsoft’s handling of that data is governed by the Microsoft Privacy Statement, not by this policy.

Through Partner Center, Microsoft gives us aggregated reporting such as totals for sales, installs, ratings and crash counts. These reports are statistical and do not identify individual customers.

This website

screencrisp.com uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful. It sets cookies and processes your IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and browser type, the pages you view and how you arrived. We use this only in aggregate to improve the site. We do not sell it or use it for advertising profiles.

Analytics runs only where you have consented, and you can withdraw consent at any time through the cookie controls on the site. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or block cookies in your browser. Blocking analytics does not affect the site or the app. Google’s own handling is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Strictly necessary cookies that make pages load and remember your cookie choice are always active, because the site cannot function without them.

Legal basis and retention

Where the GDPR applies, our basis for analytics is your consent, and our basis for answering a support email is our legitimate interest in replying to you. Analytics data is retained by Google for the period set in our property configuration and then deleted. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve the matter and to keep a record of it.

International transfers

Google Analytics and email delivery may process data on servers outside India, including in the United States. Those providers rely on their own transfer safeguards, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, for that processing.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or erase it, withdraw consent, or complain about how we have handled it. Because the app collects nothing, in practice this covers analytics data and any correspondence you have sent us. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within the period required by applicable law.

If you are in the EU or UK you may also complain to your local supervisory authority. In India you may escalate to the Data Protection Board after raising the matter with us first.

Children

Screen Crisp is not directed at children and we do not knowingly process a child’s personal data. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and, where the change affects data we already hold, say so on this page before it takes effect.
