Questions about Screen Crisp

Windows SmartScreen showed a warning. What should I do?

A SmartScreen warning is a reputation or security check, not proof that a download is safe. Check the download source and the installer's signing publisher before proceeding. If the publisher is unexpected or Windows identifies a threat, cancel installation. On a managed PC, ask your IT administrator. Read Microsoft's SmartScreen guidance →

Do I need administrator rights to install?

Installation permissions for the release installer have not been confirmed yet. We will state them on the download page when that installer is available. Work or school PCs may require approval from your IT administrator. Check installer availability →

Can I use one licence on two PCs?

Yes. Monthly, annual and lifetime licences allow up to three Windows PCs. Unlink an old PC on the account page before activating a replacement. Manage activated PCs →

Can I get a refund?

Yes. One-time purchases and the first subscription charge are refundable within 14 days, no questions asked. Renewal charges are excluded from this voluntary policy; statutory rights still apply. Read the refund policy →

Does Screen Crisp add a watermark?

No. Exports never carry a watermark. Recording and editing are free; a licence is required to export. The free version includes the full recorder and editor, automatic zoom, cursor styles and 3D motion. Pro unlocks export for $12.99 per month, $47.00 per year or $79.00 lifetime. Does Screen Crisp work on Windows 10?

Yes. Screen Crisp supports Windows 10 version 1903 or later and Windows 11 on x64 PCs. You need 8 GB of memory; 16 GB is recommended for 4K projects. See the download page for system requirements. Check your PC →

Is there a recording time limit on the free version?

There is no fixed recording time limit in the free version. Available disk space and your computer’s performance determine how much you can record. Leave room for both the source recording and the finished export.

Can I edit the mouse cursor after recording?

Yes. Screen Crisp stores cursor movement separately and renders the cursor during export. Change its style, size, smoothing, glow and click effects after the take. There are 61 styles in seven groups, with idle fade when the pointer is no longer needed.

What is the difference between Screen Crisp and OBS Studio?

OBS Studio focuses on capture, live mixing and streaming. Screen Crisp combines recording with a built-in editor for automatic zoom, cursor restyling, backgrounds and a multi-track timeline. Choose according to whether you need a live broadcast or an edited demonstration. Read the OBS Studio comparison →

Does automatic zoom work on 1080p recordings?

Yes. Automatic zoom follows recorded cursor activity and is not restricted to 4K recordings. Zooming into 1080p enlarges existing pixels, so moderate zoom levels preserve more detail. Record at a higher source resolution when you need close-ups of small text.

Is my recording uploaded anywhere?

No. Screen capture, editing and encoding run on your Windows computer. No account is needed to download, record or edit. Paid export needs initial online activation and periodic checks; these do not upload your recordings. Your recordings remain in the folder you choose, and you decide whether to share the exported file.

Do I get free updates with the lifetime licence?

Yes. The lifetime licence includes future updates with one payment and no renewal. Monthly and annual licences include updates while subscribed. All three paid options unlock export on up to three Windows PCs. View licence details →

Does Screen Crisp generate automatic captions?

No. You can add text boxes and annotations in the editor, but Screen Crisp does not transcribe speech or generate automatic captions. If your video needs subtitles, plan to add them with a separate captioning tool after export.

Do I need to install a separate video encoder?

No. The media encoder is included with Screen Crisp. Compatible NVIDIA, Intel and AMD hardware encoders can accelerate MP4 export; a software encoder is available when hardware encoding cannot be used.
